The true costs and benefits of public dialogue

Drop in for Dialogue – 19 October 2009

In an era of greater enthusiasm for public engagement of all types, but reducing budgets, it has never been more important for policy makers to demonstrate the true practical value of dialogue.

Diane Warburton has just completed some new research, supported by the Sciencewise Expert Resource Centre, to examine how best to tackle the gap in research into the costs and benefits of dialogue.

This drop in session will look at these findings and focus on some practical ways for participants to think about setting realistic and measurable objectives for public dialogue.

Monthly ‘drop in’ sessions help policy makers carry out better, more appropriately timed dialogue with the public to assist them to make better policy.
